Sometimes in life exams occur; events that need massive amounts of focus and a ton of studying.

Of course, we don't really study now, do we?

5) Unbreak My Heart

"Unbreak my heart....say you love me again.....undo this hurt you caused when you walked out the..."

- Nothing really specially un-exam-y about this song; it's just the song where I first experienced a ridiculously distracting LSS in the middle of a major [Chemistry] exam, back in college. The silky singing, coupled with the raw emotions of the lyrics and the voice itself, is rather pesky when taking exams; otherwise it isn't that bad to hum to while taking exams, really :)

4) Blue Jeans

"Kay tagal ko nang nag-aaral, tignan mo kupas na ang aking maong....kung akala mo ako ay natuto na, di parin..."

- Nothing quite as distracting for a song to play in your head, than the song that would constantly remind you how pointless your midnight-oil studying is when in the exam itself you'd just stare blankly, feeling like a complete idiot. Coupled with a memorable tone, this catchy line could play again and again, and again, and again... in your mind for just as long as the allotted time for the exam is. Because taking an exam while some disembodied voice in your mind, repeatedly singing about the futility of trying to study, is fun. Bad, perhaps, but fun.

3) What's Up

"...and I say hey-ey-ey, I said hey, what's going on??"

- Ever wondered, during an exam, what really is going on in a metaphysical sense, in that odd event called "examination", that somehow you knew you prepared well for this examination.....but it seems like you've never even touched the book? It's the type of song that feeds on your doubt of your own answers on the exam, and exploits it until you make so many corrections that you run out of time. And your first answer, the one that you erased and re-erased, is awkwardly the actual correct one, leaving you very, very angry for changing your answer in the first place, using up precious time pointlessly in the process.

2) True

"...I know...this...much...is TRUE! [this much is tru-ue, this much is tru-ue]"

- Catchy song, but you know that much ISN'T TRUE. Which may not matter in essay or identification exams, but too often True or False question are found in exams; ours not excluded. With this song in your head you subconsciously have just answered everything true even if you meant false, thus flunking the exam. Hard.

1) It's Too Late

"...it's too late baby, now it's too late, but we really tried to make it [make it]..."

- When the exam is the crucial exam, the type of exam on which you pin your hopes of passing, when all other exams have bombed hard and this is your last stand, when this exam is the decisive exam. You have or have not prepared for this, you just don't know; it's difficult to keep a clear mind knowing what really is at stake in this exam.

Then you take the test. The going gets tough, and tougher, and soon it's getting rather horrendously confusing that in the back of your mind you just wish you studied just that little bit a little bit more, then this song plays. It's too late. Regrets occur often too late to change anything now, and this song just rubs it in, in such a smooth, soothing voice that you have no choice but to gulp its message down like a saccharine poison. And at that moment, you just concede; this is Stalingrad, or Waterloo. A few realizations too late, yet you really tried to make it; yes you really did. Game over, you lose, but hey, at least you get to play again......next semester.

0) Don't Know Much

"...I don't know much, but I know I love you...and that may be all I need to know..."

- I always heard the "...and that may be all I need to know..." as "...can't believe all I need to know..." Because I really can't. I have to memorize and understand all those stuff in elementary? In high school? In Biology, or in Medicine? Hell, no I can't, but I might as well must, if I were to get a good grade. I do don't know much, and I do can't believe all I need to know, but hey, at least I try.

In the exams however, the song is an instant step to metacognition, which for me is very distracting; you know, trying to know how you could know those stuff, with possible applications on how to know them better? Yet in the process of knowing what you know and how to know what you may or may not know, what you temporarily knew just slipped away. I mean, what you cram-studied for the exam just went gone, forever useless. Yeah, it's that kind of LSS.

For those who are less philosophically adept though, the fact that the song playing in your head again and again, impressing into that thick cranium of yours that you really, really don't know much [about this exam], and how much you must know eventually if you continue your education...it does feel depressing.

all of it, just...all of it

- I may not be sure of who you are, but I know someone personally who reminds me of this song. You may not really know the song in the first place, nor the language in which it was sung; you don't even know the person whom I referring to who reminds me of this song, so let's just call him Myk. Sia, Myk.

Buloy. Myk Sia. You may or may not know what song is that, or who that person is, but they are basically one and the same, somehow. And both of them are harmful to studying, and even worse when taking the exams themselves...Stay away from them for they are the antithesis of our current educational system, and thus are very dangerous to your mind that has been carefully cultivated to think that way by our society and the institutions that manipulate it.
